UNC Tar Heels' Classic Carolina Blue Is More Than Just a Color

March Madness’s final stage has been set. The second seed in the Villanova Wildcats will go face-to-face with the top dog North Carolina Tar Heels. With hopes of being a match-up for the history books, we have switched our sights to UNC’s cultural influence, and more specifically its impact on the sneaker world.

Over the years, UNC’s players have helped introduce some of the more iconic basketball sneakers, including that time Antawn Jamison and Vince Carter helped MJ unveil the Air Jordan 11 “Legend Blue.” The white and “Carolina Blue” color combo has since elevated to a cultural phenomenon inspiring countless models throughout the last two decades. It has become more than the hue of UNC, as it represents heritage, pride, excellence and sportsmanship.
