'Blood Father' Is Like 'Taken,' But With Mel Gibson
Helmed by ‘Mesrine’ director Jean-François Richet and written by the man behind ‘The Town.’
Mel Gibson is set to go all Liam Neeson on us with his latest big screen endeavor, Blood Father. Written by Peter Craig (The Town, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Bad Boys 3, Top Gun 2) and based on his 2006 novel of the same name, Blood Father offers up a premise that’ll undoubtedly be familiar to any fans of the Taken franchise. Directed by Jean-François Richet (the man behind Vincent Cassel’s badass Mesrine), the flick will see Gibson as an ex-con who reunites with his estranged 16-year-old daughter in an attempt to protect her from drug dealers who are trying to kill her.
A throwback of sorts to Gibson’s ’80s and ’90s heyday, Blood Father will hit theaters August 25.
