Sterling Ruby to Showcase His Clothing Archive for the Very First Time
Experimental “Work Wear” inspired by the Bauhaus movement.

Sterling Ruby‘s interest in fashion was previously revealed in an experimental collaboration with Raf Simons, yet much of his textile work and clothing archives have remained under the wraps until now. For the first time ever, the LA-based contemporary artist will be showcasing some of his never-before-seen garments at the upcoming “WORK WEAR: Garment and Textile Archive 2008-2016” exhibition in London. Drawing influence from the Bauhaus movement, a design approach pioneered by Walter Gropius, and his upbringing in rural Pennsylvania, a selection of outerwear, shirts, pants and bags treated with hand-dyes and details in Sterlings‘ studio are set to be unveiled on March 11 at Sprüth Magers. View some of the pieces above and make sure to check it out if you happen to be in the area.
