Nike Introduces Anti-Clog Traction Technology to Its Football Boots

Nike’s latest technological innovation promises to make life easier for footballers the world over. Anti-Clog Traction was developed specifically with the Beautiful Game in mind. Mud constantly finds ways of caking to boots’ soles — especially in inclement weather — and the minds at the Swoosh set about finding a solution to this age-old problem. The solution in the form of sole plates coated with an adaptive polymer that reacts when exposed to water, creating a hydrophilic lubricant that prevents mud from clogging and players from losing their footing.
The technology will be implemented across Nike’s Tiempo, Magista, and Hypervenom models and will be available in limited quantities via the Nike Football app starting on April 15. Look for the hexagon on the heel.
