Mike Alfred of streetwear brand Illegal Civilization and the Odd Future collective has been pushing the envelope with his recent video work. First came the dynamic clip he filmed for Tyler, The Creator and A$AP Rocky’s “WHAT THE FUCK RIGHT NOW,” and now Alfred and the Illegal Civ crew have teamed up with the good folks over at The FADER for a project that combines skate footage with a darkly surreal short film’s narrative. The aesthetic pays homage to Alfred’s filmic idols — John Cassavettes, Scorcese, et al. — while still retaining many of the stylistic elements found in streetwear lookbooks.
