Anglepoise Supersizes Its Iconic Desk Lamp to Commemorate Roald Dahl's Centennial
Fit for a Big Friendly Giant.

Anglepoise’s 1930s desk lamps are beloved by many: Pixar’s Luxo and Luxo Jr. characters were inspired by the lamp that John Lasseter kept on his desk, for example, and beloved children’s author Roald Dahl was also an admirer of the lamp’s design. So much so, in fact, that the Roald Dahl Museum & Story Centre commissioned triple-scale versions of the lamp — which Dahl used while writing The Big Friendly Giant — fit for the titular fictional goliath back in 2005. Now the company is releasing a super-sized collection in honor of the author’s centennial: the newest additions to the giant collection are an outdoor version and a wall-mounted unit fit for indoor and outdoor use. The outdoor fixture is built with marine-grade stainless steel and a sealed light unit for maximum durability. The lamps are available in 15 different colors, for good measure.
The Anglepoise Giant Collection launches in Frankfurt on March 13, with a North American release slated for May.
