Vans Celebrates Its Semi-Centennial by Giving the Sk8-His 50 Colorways
Reimagining an icon.
Action sports footwear OG Vans is marking its 50th anniversary this year, and the celebrations continue with a collection of 50 revamped colorways of the brand’s first high-top: the timeless Sk8-Hi silhouette. The shoe’s multi-panel construction has stood the test of time, functioning as a canvas for customization, to be styled and worn by countless artists, creatives and extreme athletes throughout the years. The kicks originally known as the “Style 38” are given design enhancements and upgrades including deconstructed uppers, zip-back details and slim sole construction. The collection boasts materials like patent leather, faux snakeskin and mesh. Colorways include dress blues, all-over tonal colorways in vintage white, gossamer green, and a collaborative colorway alongside NYC artist Baron Von Fancy, among others — all of these are in addition to the original colorways that marked the shoe’s release back in 1977. Flip through a selection of the collection above and be sure to check out the full 50 over on Vans’ website, available for purchase now.
