These Are the Safest Cities Around the World
Ranked on everything from street crime to cyber security.




With the vast majority of us living in cities (including 82 percent of North America’s population), safety is a key factor in quality of life and liveability. The Economic Intelligence Unit surveyed 50 global cities to find the safest, using 40 indicators that cover everything from personal safety to health, food and digital security to get a final score out of 100. Asia features heavily with three cities in the top three, while New York‘s high ranking for health security sees it appear within the top 10. Other factors of note included a safe transport infrastructure — which played a role in Sydney and Melbourne‘s ranking — and a secure business environment. See the full list below.
