New York City and Mayor Zohran Mamdani have officially launched the custom NYC World Cup Jersey collection as an affordable alternative for soccer fans. The grassroots merchandising project introduces a trio of community-focused kits designed to contrast with expensive official FIFA tournament apparel. Priced at just $50 USD, the jerseys are sold completely at cost to ensure maximum financial accessibility for residents across the five boroughs as the global tournament kicks off.

The design of the New York City kits is deeply rooted in local infrastructure, subverting traditional tourist imagery to highlight authentic metropolitan life. Crafted by Brooklyn-based graphic designer and illustrator Arsh Raziuddin alongside City Hall’s in-house team, the collection features iconic local motifs including a soccer-ball-patterned “Bapple” graphic below the left shoulder and a classic pigeon graphic on the right. The visual palette draws direct inspiration from the city’s iconic public transportation and civic staples, infusing hues of subway green, taxi yellow, coffee cup blue, ferry orange, and thank you red.

For manufacturing, the city bypassed global corporate factories to partner with Mazzi Sports, a family-owned custom apparel business that has been operating out of its Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn factory since 1986. The high-quality jerseys are being delivered in three main colorways: black and white, yellow and black, and blue and orange. This localized approach celebrates the rich football culture pulsing through the five boroughs, utilizing symbols of New York City’s daily reality to form a lasting visual legacy for the sport’s biggest international stage.

The NYC World Cup Jersey collection drops June 12, 2026, exclusively at the New York City CityStore in downtown Manhattan.
