Born in 1998, the Air Max Plus has amassed a cult-like following all over the globe as the design quickly took on different nicknames. Dubbed ”La Requin” in France, the nickname was born from its original gradient-colored “Hyper Blue” colorway, that was reminiscent of a shark’s unique texture. Previously teased, for its latest release NikeLab draws from the nickname and gave the Air Max Plus two new colorways that feature modern construction with colors and sublimated graphics that are directly inspired by sharks. As the unique sublimated graphic found on the upper emulates the water shadow on a sharks body, while the white gradient mimics the belly of a shark.
Retailing at $175 USD, the NikeLab Air Max Plus “Le Requin” will be available in “Turbo Green” and “Mineral Teal” at select Nike retailers November 23.
