Nike Gives the Air Max 90 a Utilitarian Update
Highlighted by a water-repellant shroud for the upper.
Updated renditions of Nike classics are nothing new, but the Swoosh’s latest take on the Air Max 90 is one of its more interesting reworks to date. Dubbed the Air Max 90 Utility, the design follows last year’s fall/winter drop of the same name. The new Air Max 90 Utility, however, takes things a step further than its predecessor. Whereas 2015’s release was marked by an inner bootie, water-repellent ripstop nylon construction, no-sew synthetic overlays, and an overhauled traction pattern, 2016’s version comes draped in leather while making use of what appears to be an abrasion-resistant finish to the mudguard. The biggest change, however, is undoubtedly the addition of a zippered nylon shroud that takes the water-repelling idea a step further by enclosing the inner bootie and lacing entirely.
Complete with a take on the tried-and-true “Infrared” look, this year’s Air Max 90 Utility is available now from THE GOOD WILL OUT.
