Nicki Minaj is Getting a Sitcom Based on Her Life
“Imma just do me, when it feel right.”

Nicki Minaj and ABC Family have both confirmed that the rapper is set to executive produce and appear in a new comedy series on the network about her early life. According to Deadline, the currently untitled series will center on “Minaj growing up in Queens in the 1990’s with her vibrant immigrant family, and the personal and musical evolution that lead to her eventual rise to stardom.”
Minaj was originally born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tabago, and moved to the US as a child. The series will be penned by Kate Angelo (Sex Tape). No stranger to acting herself (Minaj studied acting at Manhattan’s distinguished Laguardia High School), the singer-songwriter announced via Instagram that she is currently on a nationwide search for someone to play young Nicki in the series. The pilot episode is set to start filming in Queens this winter with the intention to continue the series.
