OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital x Nike SB Dunk High "What The Doernbecher"
To kick off the 11th year of the Doernbecher Freestyle Program, Nike and the OHSU Doernbecher

To kick off the 11th year of the Doernbecher Freestyle Program, Nike and the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, Oregon will release just 11 pairs of a special “What The Doernbecher” edition of the Nike SB Dunk High. Paying homage to the original “What The” Dunk — which introduced the mishmash design concept — the shoe features design elements from all 13 of the program’s SB designs. Said Michael Doherty, Senior Director of Global Brand Presentation for Nike and long-time board member with the Doernbecher Hospital Foundation:
The ‘What The’ concept is all about combining different pieces from iconic models for a new and unexpected creation. To us, there was no better way to celebrate the 13 unique SB designs over the first 11 years of the program than with a first-of-its-kind ‘What The Doernbecher.’
Eleven pairs of the kicks — one in each size 8-12, 13 and 14 — will be auctioned on eBay over the course of a 10-day period beginning this Thursday, June 11. Each pair will come encased in Doernbecher scrubs and will be packaged in a one-of-a-kind box made from recycled skate decks. All proceeds from the sale of the shoes will go to benefit the hospital.
Later this month, Nike and OHSU Doernbecher will announce the six patients that were selected to design the 12th-annual collection for the program while the 2015 designs themselves will be revealed October 23.
