Henry Canyons - I Wanna

Henry Canyons is one week away from his album Canyonland which will be released on June 16. During a time of new beginnings and experiences, Canyonland represents Henry’s various struggles adapting to new environments, further embracing his identity, and finding his personal and professional spheres. The canyon is the point of the vista where one can stand in respect to where one has come from and where one is going. This is Henry’s journey through the desert in hopes of finding the oasis. Entirely produced by French producer, Keor Meteor, the album’s production is a dazzling display of Soul, Jazz and R&B, mixed w/ Henry’s clever wordplay and personal reflections. The moment I heard this beat, I hit up Keor like, “Yo, I need this. I got the vibe. I feel it.” I just kept hearing the rhythm of the hook, “I Wanna” without the words at that point. It was some heavy boom bap that reminded me of KRS, particularly the song “Hold.” Then the words came in, “I Wanna, I Wanna …” Let me tell people what I want in my life. In regards to my philosophy, my music, my career, my love life, my family, etc. This is what I want.
