Kendrick Lamar Hints at New Album in New Instrospective Interview

Still hot off the heels of his highly acclaimed To Pimp a Butterfly, Kendrick Lamar is already thinking about his next release. In a new interview with The Guardian, Lamar touched on his new politically charged sophomore LP, focusing on its dense analytical and introspective content. Of particular note, “The Blacker The Berry” holds a powerful meaning, centred around internalized racism, which is as relevant as ever in the wake of the recent racial violence in America. The song’s origins were spawned even before his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city, written amid the outrage over the murder of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman. Later in the interview while addressing the depressive nature of his newest album, Lamar hinted at his next full-length project, saying “I know exactly what I want to say next [...] Everything is going to make sense – not only to myself but to anybody who wants to understand life and music.
