Jerry Heller Sues Dr. Dre, Ice Cube & 'Straight Outta Compton' For $110 Million
Eazy-E and N.W.A’s former manager feels defamed.
Jerry Heller, the former manager of N.W.A and late member Eazy-E, is suing Dr. Dre, Ice Cube and those involved in the rap group’s successful biopic, Straight Outta Compton, for at least $110 million. According to TMZ, he is suing for the aforementioned as well as the estate of Eazy-E, NBC Universal, and others for defamation and portraying his likeness in the film without his permission. Heller says that the movie inaccurately portrayed him as “a sleazy manager who took advantage of Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube” on top of incorporating scenes from Heller’s memoir “Ruthless” without his permission. He is asking for $35 million in compensatory damages, $75 million in punitive damages and a percentage of the film’s profits, bringing the total to at least $110 million. The film, as of late September, has grossed almost $190 million. Watch a short interview above and read the details here.
