IWC Schaffhausen Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition “Le Petit Prince”

Sotheby’s has partnered with IWC Schaffhausen to offer a one-off, exclusive watch model to be auctioned off at Sotheby’s Sale of Important Watches, due to be held in Geneva next month. The timepiece pays homage to the children’s book The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, with the seven stars in the center of the watch dial alluding to the titular character and its creator’s personality. These stars actually represent the seven days of the week, with each one lighting up in succession to symbolize the Little Prince’s visit to a different planet. The same seven stars are embossed on the case back, and includes the name of each star’s inhabitant with whom the prince is currently staying. All of this is encased within red gold and is powered by a sophisticated split-seconds mechanism. All proceeds from the auction of this watch will go to the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation to benefit disadvantaged young people internationally.
