Keanu Reeves marks his directing debut with Man of Tai Chi. The film is partly inspired by the life of Tiger Chen, a real life stuntman and friend of Reeve’s who worked together with him on The Matrix trilogy. The movie depicts Reeves as a martial arts boss searching for his next greatest killer and also stars Chen himself as well as Hong Kong actress/singer Karen Mok. Fans of kung fu movies should be in for a treat as far as fight choreography is concerned, as the film was given a nod by veteran Hong Kong action director, John Woo. The film is slated for a long-awaited July 5 release after spending years in development (pre-production began in 2008 before undergoing a long string of script updates and improvements).
