The Hundreds Enlists Denise Schaefer to Recreate Seven Decades' Worth of Pepsi Ads
Bobby Hundreds & Co. bring “more bounce to the ounce” in this look back on Pepsi’s advertising history.
Having existed in some form since 1893, Pepsi has firmly ingrained itself into the American psyche, being one of the earliest major brands to advertise extensively. In an upcoming collaboration, The Hundreds pays homage to seven decades of Pepsi advertising, picking one print ad from each decade that best encapsulated the prevalent aesthetics of that era. Model Denise Schaefer portrays the ever-present beautiful girl with the Pepsi bottle in her hand — starting off as a pin-up girl in the ’40s, she is seen in the flesh in the ’60s with the advent of color photography, while the “free love” hippie culture of the ’70s influences the ad slogan of that era. In subsequent eras, Madonna, Cindy Crawford and Britney Spears are brought on to endorse the soft drink, bringing us to Pepsi Perfect in 2015. Watch the behind-the-scenes video below and anticipate the Pepsi x The Hundreds collection to drop on HBX on December 3.
