Update: We’re nearing the debut of Ja Morant’s second signature shoe, the Nike Ja 2, and a second colorway of the sneaker has been officially teased by the Swoosh. This “Stargazer” pair was the first to appear, popping up initially in July, and is expected to be one of the first colorways of the Ja 2 to release. In addition to its detailed structure, which we outlined in our initial breakdowns below, the sneaker comes with a branded shoe box. Nike has yet to officially announce when the Nike Ja 2 will be dropping, stay tuned for updates as this colorway remains anticipated to drop on October 3 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $120 USD.

Update: After initially surfacing last month, we now have our best look yet at Ja Morant’s second signature shoe with the Swoosh — the Nike Ja 2. Again highlighted in its “Stargazer” colorway, the sneaker takes a noticeable departure from its predecessor, bringing a new texture to the upper, introducing a new heel detail and more adjustments that we detailed in our previous coverage below. While the sneaker has not yet been announced, it remains anticipated as an October 3 release via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at the $120 USD price point.

Original Story: It’s been over a year since Ja Morant and Nike Basketball kicked off their partnership with the introduction of the Nike Ja 1. The low-top sneaker was well received as the brand’s most affordable signature shoe at the time and has continued to periodically release since. However, when it came time for a sequel to arrive a year later, the Ja 1 remained his sole shoe on the market. While Nike has yet to comment on the delay, it’s possibly in response to the off-the-court trouble Morant dealt with that led to him receiving a 25-game suspension from the NBA, as well as his season-ending shoulder injury.

Now, we have our first look at Morant’s second shoe — the Nike Ja 2 — thanks to @prm.cotd, while Sole Retriever has reported on its release details. Based on the brief preview embedded below, the line continues in low-top form as mesh graces the toe box that rests next to leather overlays while a textured synthetic layer backs the midfoot and heel. Another textured pattern adorns the heel counter while Morant continues his midnight theme with a “12AM” hit at this purple “Stargazer” colorway’s heel tab. Large Swooshes are visible at each side of the shoe as Morant’s logo appears at the tongue tag.

At the time of writing, Nike Basketball has not shared any details regarding the upcoming debut of the Nike Ja 2 in this “Stargazer” colorway. Stay tuned for updates, including official visuals, as we currently expect the sneaker to land on shelves starting on October 3 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $120 USD.
