BEAMS PLUS x Engineered Garments Sweats Boast Comfort and Utility
Reviving their joint “PEG” line with elevated loungewear staples.
Longtime collaborators BEAMS PLUS and Engineered Garments have unveiled a capsule of essentials to mark the second drop in the revival of their joint PEG line. The final product is a range of USA-made sweats that bring together the Japanese brand’s eye for American tradition and the NY-based studio’s close attention to practical construction.
While Engineered Garments’ domain is largely in the woven category, the brand made its presence known in thoughtfully placed pockets and metal snap closures. Unconventional details like a kangaroo pocket placed at the back of the tops and an adjustable collar strap at the neck of the hoodies evoke the brand’s visual language. Even with jersey sweatshirts, cardigans, and hoodies being a regular part of BEAMS PLUS’ extensive assortment of 20th-century-inspired styles, Engineered Garments’ signature play with formality brings a “quiet luxury” feel to the capsule. The collaborators released a restrained set of two colorways: heather gray and a classic navy blue. The minimal approach allows for optimal layering, demonstrated in the campaign’s cozy styling.
The PEG moniker reintroduces the name that the two brands used for joint projects throughout their longtime partnership that began in the early 2000s. The name was brought back to life in 2024 with a PEG Chambray shirt released in late August. BEAMS PLUS has kept busy with recent collaborations including a patchwork jacket with Arc’teryx and a new clog with Crocs.
The new PEG capsule will launch at BEAMS PLUS Harajuku on September 21. Take a look at the design in the gallery above.
