Taking place on the last weekend of August, Lost Village marks the final music festival in the summer calendar where villagers come together to bid the season goodbye. However, for Canadian artist Debby Friday, it’s only the halfway point in her nine-stop European festival tour. As she gears up for her performance, the artist joins Defender to share her foolproof festival routine in a new installment of Day in the Life.

After a long drive to the event in the new Defender 110 Plug-in Hybrid, Debby kickstarted the experience the next morning, waking up early in search of a much-needed cleanse and reset. Changing into her go-to outfit of a black co-ord, bomber jacket, and leather boots, she headed to the lakeside Energy Garden. Here, the artist congregated with the Lost Village early risers, who all came together for yoga, a massage, and various other forms of soul-charging restoration, and then took park in a tea ceremony before heading back into the forest.

As lunchtime hit, Debby fuelled up on a hearty yet healthy meal prepared by Defender’s boutique onsite restaurant. It wasn’t long before music began to amp up around the grounds. From the intimate Airbase stage to the central Burial Ground that welcomed headliners Floating Points and SBTRKT, thumping beats came from all corners of the site, enticing the artist to discover new sounds.

With a few hours left before her evening set, Debby visited Defender’s Outpost area to get a feel for the stage. In keeping with the wild and dilapidated theme of the festival, The Outpost was constructed into a forgotten zoo with maps and artifacts that dually referenced the Defender’s safari heritage. After a quick look around, the artist headed back to get ready for her big performance, picking up some essentials from her car on the way.

In contrast to the dark, functional outfit from the day, Debby made her grand entrance with a red frilled top, metallic shorts and a matching pair of silver boots – a signature get-up that fans knowingly recognize her by. Following on from a DJ set by Ella Knight, her performance was also charged with classic Debby Friday energy, filling up the hour-long set with high-powered pop-meets-punk tunes including “FATAL,” “Runnin,” and crowd favorite “To The Dancefloor.” As the artist rounded off her performance, she joined the crowds to watch Yīn Yīn and other closing sets of the night, before being whisked away in her 4×4 to the next festival on the schedule.
