Dior Men's Pre-Fall 2024 Fashions Eclectic Formalwear
Designer Kim Jones merges polished and playful dress codes, with hole-punched overcoats, Dior Oblique knitwear, organza-lined shorts, logo-laden caps and more.
After “indefinitely” postponing its previously scheduled Pre-Fall 2024 runway at Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, Dior Men’s has instead opted to reveal its next collection in a vivid blue lookbook, shot by Jackie Nickerson.
The line, governed by Kim Jones, offers a playful lens to formalwear. Overcoats breathe with geometric cut-outs, and lapel-laden coats shine in bright blue leather. Collared shirts swap buttons for loose bowties, exposing just a peak of their wearer’s torsos, and grey long-sleeves feature two zippers for versatile styling. Knit sweaters, meanwhile, boast the Dior Oblique monogram and wavy check patterns alike, while muted saddle bags turn into subtle clutches with minimal branding.
While adhering to classier dress codes, Jones manages to instill a casual finish into his Dior Man’s wardrobe. Structured blazers find equilibrium with baggy dress trousers and “Christian Dior” caps, and tailored shorts fuel the fun with quiet organza detailing falling below the knee. Neutral suiting finds an edge with utilitarian handbags and colorful lace-up shoes in football-inspired shapes, while eclectic pairings, like tuxedo trousers and hole-punched knits, platform Jones’ penchant for the unexpected. Here, the designer effectively merges polished style tropes with more jolly ones to form Dior’s modern menswear identity.
