This Iced-Out Carabiner Watch Is Part of the Cartier Libre Polymorph High Jewelry Collection
A fully functional piece that can be attached to a handbag or belt.

In line with Cartier’s tradition of unveiling a new collection annually under Cartier Libre, the luxury Maison has announced its lineup for the new Polymorph high jewelry collection. For the last few years, the line has served as experimenting grounds for the Maison to think out-of-the-box, and this year’s lineup is no exception.
Among the bevy of unusually playful and bedazzled offerings, a particular spotlight was directed to the Carabiner Watch. While an actual carabine is all about safety, quick accessibility and its ability to hold weight, this gem-studded piece does the opposite. Presented in the shape of a triangular carabiner, its main body and watch dial are set with all-over pavé diamonds. Whereas the carabiner’s outward-facing edges are lined with baguette-cut diamonds.
The case for the watch is framed with emeralds and channel-set and baguette-cut sapphires. Sitting on both sides are large alternating beads, spanning onyx, chrysoprase. turquoise, black spinel and lapis lazuli. The opener for the carabiner comes in a matching pavé-set contraption, which is bordered with channel-set rubies and finished with a single cabochon sapphire — a hallmarked feature that can be found as the crown for most Cartier watches.
A fully functional piece, the carabiner watch can be attached to a belt or handbag as an eye-catching accessory that also provides essential time-keeping functionality.
