A new generation of Pokémon is here. As part of the franchise’s 30th anniversary celebration, a special Pokémon Presents showcase just aired for Pokémon Day. Closing out the preview of what’s to come was our first look at Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves.
Set in an environment ostensibly inspired by Southeast Asia, the Nintendo Switch 2 titles feature an open-world layout spanning windswept islands and an expansive ocean. Two new Pikachus, Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, were highlighted in the three-minute trailer too.
What caught fans’ eyes the most, however, was the reveal of the three starter Pokémon. The Bean Chick Pokémon Browt, Puppy Pokémon Pombon, and Water Gecko Pokémon Gecqua serve as the initial partners that will join trainers on their adventure through the new region.
Stay tuned for updates, including additional trailers, as Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves are set to drop together during 2027.
