Best New Tracks: Kali Uchis, Playboi Carti, Lil Durk and More

As the week in music comes to a close, Hypebeast has rounded up the best projects for the latest installment of Best New Tracks.
This week’s lineup is stacked, led by new albums coming from Jessie Reyez, Lil Durk and NAV. Both Ariana Grande and Playboi Carti extended recent albums with new deluxe drops, with Wallows also revealing a new EP.
New singles stemmed from Bb trickz, Little Simz, Ari Lennox, Kali Uchis, Yung Lean, Kesha x T-Pain and Feid x Ty Dolla $ign.
Lil Durk – Deep Thoughts
Despite still being behind bars, Durk dropped off Deep Thoughts right on time. The rapper enlisted the likes of Future, Lil Baby, Jhené Aiko and Hunxho to present a cohesive 17-song endeavor, which also arrives with a short documentary of the rapper chronicling the album’s creation process.
Ariana Grande – eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead
A little over a year after sharing eternal sunshine, Ariana Grande has expanded on the otherworldly soundscape with the album’s deluxe edition. Entitled eternal sunshine deluxe: better days ahead, Grande adds six new songs to the end of the tracklist, with the full version of “intro (end of the world) – extended” being the first new cut.
Wallows – More
Following up on last year’s Model, Wallows has shared a 7-track EP entitled More. Singles “Your New Favorite Song” and “Coffin Change” find their spots on the tracklist which spans “Deep Dive” and its reprise as the closing offering.
NAV – OMW2REXDALE
Toronto’s very own NAV has dropped off his latest LP OMW2REXDALE. The album spans 14 tracks and comes bolstered with a stacked bunch of features, including Don Toliver, Playboi Carti and Metro Boomin on “YOU,” “UNLIMITED,” and “REAL ME,” respectively.
Playboi Carti – MUSIC – SORRY 4 DA WAIT
A surprise to us all, Playboi Carti dropped the MUSIC deluxe edition as promised. MUSIC – SORRY 4 DA WAIT sees four new tracks tacked on to the now 35-song lineup, including “BACKR00MS,” “FOMDJ,” “2024” and “DIFFERENT DAY,” all leaked tracks fans were disappointed not to see on the original version of the anticipated album.
Bb trickz – “Not a Pretty Girl”
Like many of us, Bb trickz is a Clairo fan – but unlike many of us, she can actually interpolate one of the songstress’ signature cuts into one of her own. The emerging artist’s “Not a Pretty Girl” infuses the Charm singer’s beloved “Pretty Girl” into a bilingual two-minute cut.
Little Simz – ”Free”
Little Simz is locking in on her album, readying for the global release of Lotus. After unleashing lead single “Flood” with features from Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly, the creative multi-hyphenate has now lifted the veil on the second single “Free.”
Ari Lennox – “Soft Girl Era”
On her birthday earlier this week, Ari Lennox blessed us with a gift to celebrate. Lennox has entered her “Soft Girl Era” in her first single of the year, and what hopefully marks the ringing in of her long-awaited next studio project.
Kali Uchis – ”Sunshine & Rain”
It’s officially album season for Kali Uchis as well, who this week revealed the lead single from her forthcoming project. The serene “Sunshine & Rain…” signals the beginning of the Sincerely, rollout, Uchis’s third studio album, which is set to touch down everywhere in May.
Yung Lean – ”Babyface Maniacs”
With his long-awaited fifth studio album Jonatan inching closer – set to drop on all DSPs on May 2 – Yung Lean is keeping the fans fed with a pair of solid singles and visuals. The latest in the lineup is “Babyface Maniacs,” which joins “Forever Yung” on the album’s official tracklist.
Kesha x T-Pain –”YIPPEE KI-YAY”
Talk about the duo we didn’t know we needed. Longtime friends and fans of one another Kesha and T-Pain finally connected in the studio for the latest single – a pop-country anthem entitled “YIPPEE KI-YAY” – from Kesha’s forthcoming LP.
Feid x Ty Dolla $ign – “DALLAX”
Reggaeton meets rap in the first collaboration from Feid and Ty Dolla $ign. The duo has delivered the bouncy “DALLAX,” which comes equipped with a cinematic California-set music video as well.
