McIntosh's New MC1502 Vacuum Tube Amp Was Made for Serious Audiophiles
Based on the award-winning MC2152.
McIntosh Labs has just released a new two-channel vacuum tube amplifier that’s sure to please audiophiles. The MC1502 is based on the award-winning limited edition MC2152 70th anniversary amp but has been dressed in more retro stylings, dropping the contemporary details like the matte-black finish and carbon fiber panels.
The MC1502 can delivery up to 150 Watts and is powered by eight KT99 output vacuum tubes (four assigned to each stereo channel). There are also eight small signal tubes made up of four 12AX7A and four 12AT7 vacuum tubes. The 12AX7A vacuum tubes are for the balanced and input amp while the 12AT7 are dedicated to the voltage and driver amps. Full power can be delivered to speakers at 2, 4 or 8 Ohm impedance due to McIntosh Lab’s patented Unity Coupled Circuit output transformer technology.
Designed to be the big brother to the MC275, the MC1502 sits at 46.4cm x 26cm x 53.3cm and weighs a whopping 118 pounds.
