Apple has officially unveiled the official trailer for Tenzing, an upcoming adventure drama directed by Jennifer Peedom. The feature focuses on Tenzing Norgay (Genden Phuntsok) and Sir Edmund Hillary (Tom Hiddleston) as they attempt the historic first summit of Mount Everest.
The narrative emphasizes the cultural and spiritual dimensions of the 1953 expedition, framing Norgay’s deep personal connection to the mountain, known in Tibetan culture as Chomolungma. Co-starring Willem Dafoe as expedition leader John Hunt alongside Tenzin Jigmey, Harry Greenwood, and Pasang Arya Sherpa, the film examines Norgay’s journey as an outsider establishing his place within the British climbing team.
Building on themes from her 2015 documentary Sherpa, Peedom structured the story around faith, belonging, and partnership rather than pure physical conquest. The production incorporated consultations with the late Kanchha Sherpa—the last surviving member of the original 1953 climb—while highlighting Hillary’s lifelong commitment to building infrastructure and schools across the Khumbu region alongside Norgay.
