The New Music Friday Drops We're Bumping First
Projects from Action Bronson and Little Simz, new singles from Charli XCX and Lancey Foux, and much more.
It’s almost New Music Friday, and this week’s lineup is loaded with anticipated releases, eleventh-hour announcements, and surprise new singles. Everything we’re listening to first below.
Ovrkast. – “PLAY THIS” (Out Now)
For the follow-up to last month’s “WATA” with Niontay, Ovrkast. has offered up a new solo cut, “PLAY THIS.” Paired with another cinematic visual, the Oakland rapper/producer plays the role of Frankenstein.
Lelo — Mastiff (Out Now)
The ascent continues for Detroit rapper Lelo, who just dropped off his first formally packaged project of 2026. After a string of singles he’s shared since the top of the year, the rapper just lifted the veil on a six-track EP, Mastiff, ahead of his Rolling Loud performance this weekend.
Action Bronson — PLANET FROG
The creative world behind Action Bronson’s PLANET FROG has been flourishing ever since the album’s first informal announcement (with the AI-generated artwork, which Bronson quickly replaced with one of his self-painted works), and only continuing to shape up ever since. On the heels of his Wheel of Fortune formal announcement and accompanying New Balance and Oakley BAKLAVA collaborative drops, PLANET FROG is here at last, marking Bam Bam Baklava’s eighth studio endeavor.
Charli XCX — “rock music”
The post-brat era is upon us. Charli XCX hasn’t shied away from sharing details about her next studio project, recently clearing her Instagram feed and beginning to roll out her rock-inspired LP. The lead single from the still-unnamed project is set to drop this Friday, literally just titled “rock music.”
6LACK x Young Thug — “Ashin’ the Blunt”
One of the most underrated duos in melodic rap. Atlanta pair 6LACK and Young Thug return for their third collaborative track, “Ashin’ the Blunt.” Lifted from 6LACK’s forthcoming Love Is The New Gangsta album, the smooth new single joins On The Run’s “Climax” and Lil Durk’s “Stay Down” in the duo’s joint discography.
MUNA — Dancing on The Wall
Just in time for summer, MUNA is gearing up to release its fourth studio album: Dancing on The Wall. With a tour on the books post-release, MUNA is stoked on this project’s release, sharing in a statement that anyone who is just now tapping into the group’s music is starting at just the right time, calling this album one about “love, heat (literal and metaphorical), horniness, and heartache, grounded in the here and now as we experience it.”
Nemzzz x Lil Yachty — “Geekin”
Nemzzz is another face to watch from the UK underground scene, recently running up collaborations with Latto and Central Cee. Now, he adds Lil Yachty to his growing collaborative roster on new single “Geekin.”
Cash Cobain — “I Wanna Rock”
Slizzy Summer loading … The NYC weather gets warmer, the Knicks make the playoffs, and Cash Cobain comes out of hibernation. The first warm-weather cut to come from Cash is confirmed to drop tomorrow, entitled “I Wanna Rock.”
Lancey Foux — “BODY”
Lifted from his imminent new album, THE TIME OF OUR LIVES, comes Lancey Foux’s new single “BODY.” Released on the heels of the rapper’s club takeover at London’s LOST, the track ushers in the rave-influenced sound the album leans into. “BODY” is also bolstered by a captivating music video, emphasizing the conceptual nature of the record.
Little Simz — Sugar Girl
Announced just last week, Little Simz is gearing up to drop Sugar Girl. The EP marks the successor to last June’s Lotus, and is confirmed to feature JT — and a London listening party.
Lykke Li — The Afterparty
After setting the stage for her forthcoming long-form studio release with its predecessor EP, Happy Now, Lykke Li is just about ready to lift the veil on The Afterparty. The Afterparty spans nine solo tracks from the songstress, including “Happy Now,” “Lucky Again,” “Sick of Love,” and “Knife In The Heart.”
Kelela — “linknb” (Out Now)
Kelela’s third album announcement and its second single arrived in tandem, the pop legend announcing new avatar’s July 10th release and dropping “linknb.” Produced by Oscar Scheller, the track follows up “idea 1” and its intimate screening event, and, per a press release, was created as a byproduct of writer’s block.
Deb Never — Arcade
Preceded by a run of pre-release singles comes Deb Never’s debut (!!) album. Released on the heels of “Not in Love,” “KNOW ME BETTER,” “ARCADE,” and “all the time,” Deb’s 12-track debut hears her do what she does best: expressing a casual sort of vulnerability atop her guitar melodies.
