Saucony and Engineered Garments have officially joined forces to deliver the collaborative Shadow Original Velcro in Black, Brown, and White colorways.

Engineered Garments, founded in New York in 1999 by Daiki Suzuki, has built a devoted following through its focus on quiet but intentional details. Following his years of buying for Nepenthes, Suzuki established a brand ethos centered on creating pieces that feel personal immediately and only improve with continuous wear. The label consistently avoids overworked concepts, favoring functional additions like unexpected seams or practical pockets that simply make sense to the wearer.

This grounded mindset directly translates into the brand’s latest footwear collaboration with Saucony. Tapping into the heritage runner archive, the duo gives the Shadow Original a fresh utility twist perfectly suited for daily rotation. Engineered Garments strips away traditional lacing systems entirely, instead introducing dual Velcro straps that allow wearers to easily slip in and out of the shoe.

Material execution remains a distinct priority on the updated model. Premium leather paneling adds essential structure to the shoe, ensuring durability without sacrificing the silhouette’s classic retro lines. Underneath the overlays, a mixed mesh upper keeps the entire construction lightweight and breathable, allowing the sneaker to wear comfortably throughout the entire day. By merging Saucony’s athletic foundations with Suzuki’s pragmatic approach to design, the resulting sneaker breaks in with the wearer and gradually starts to feel completely like their own.
