Japanese menswear powerhouse BEAMS PLUS is once again teaming up with Daiki Suzuki’s Engineered Garments for a highly conceptual outerwear release. Operating under their exclusive collaborative sub-label, PEG, the duo is officially gearing up to launch the “P RADIO JACKET.” Masterfully blending vintage military utility with modern broadcasting culture, the new release serves as a functional tribute to the retailer’s deep-rooted passion for sharing menswear stories.
The conceptual foundation of the P RADIO JACKET is deeply tied to “Pradio,” the official BEAMS PLUS radio station. Best known for its All Night BEAMS PLUS program broadcast nightly at 1:00 AM, the station features the retailer’s unique “broadcasting club” members sharing authentic stories about fashion, music, and everyday life. To physically represent this platform, PEG looked to the past, drawing direct design inspiration from classic vintage field jackets historically worn by soldiers and workers to carry heavy communication equipment.
Staying true to Engineered Garments’ mastery of utilitarian design, the jacket preserves several authentic details from its vintage predecessors. The silhouette features a highly functional, multi-pocket layout perfect for everyday carrying, anchored by a signature back flap. However, the rugged military piece has been carefully elevated and refined into a contemporary, everyday staple that perfectly fits the modern BEAMS PLUS aesthetic.
To fully celebrate the broadcasting theme, the P RADIO JACKET is being offered in a massive lineup of eight distinct colors. Rather than standard seasonal palettes, each specific colorway was meticulously chosen to represent the theme colors of the eight different programs currently broadcast on the Pradio network.
