Jordan Brand and the Virgil Abloh Archive™ (V.A.A.) have officially announced the release of the Air Jordan 1 High OG X V.A.A. Serving as the first global product drawn from the late designer’s collection of over 20,000 objects, the highly anticipated drop continues the historic partnership that began between Nike and Virgil Abloh in 2017.
Built upon Abloh’s core design pillar of making the hidden visible, the new iteration of the Air Jordan 1 embraces an open construction. The silhouette features the creative’s signature exposed tongue and an orange tab positioned prominently on the Swoosh. Emphasizing the model’s internal tooling, bold black ‘AIR’ lettering is printed directly over the midsole’s classic air unit, celebrating Abloh’s initial curiosity about the shoe’s internal structure.
To commemorate the launch, the Virgil Abloh Archive™ is hosting a series of V.A.A.™ World’s Fair activations throughout March in cities central to Abloh’s life, including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, London, Paris, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. The first event will take place at Architecture in Los Angeles, where the footwear will be exclusively available to attendees and local residents via an online EQL raffle. Furthermore, the first 100 subscribers to the Archive’s newly announced Toolkit program for emerging creatives will be gifted a pair of the collaborative sneakers.
