Aspyr and Limited Run Games are taking Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Collection to the Nintendo Switch 2, issuing Lara Croft’s Siberian adventure as a physical release in both Standard and Collector’s Edition formats. Each package includes a physical Game Card loaded with the full game and its Season Pass content, giving Switch 2 players the complete version of one of the franchise’s most celebrated modern entries.
The title has been around for just over a decade. Crystal Dynamics first released Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2015 as the sequel to its 2013 reboot, then expanded it into the “20 Year Celebration” edition in 2016 to mark two decades since the original Tomb Raider debuted in 1996. That anniversary branding carries over to this release even as the franchise itself now sits at 30 years old. Aspyr, which handles development on the Switch 2 version, has recent history with the series, having also overseen 2024’s Tomb Raider I–III Remastered.
The story follows Lara into the frozen wilds of Siberia in search of Kitezh, a lost city tied to the Divine Source, an artifact believed to grant immortality. Standing in her way is Trinity, a shadowy organization chasing the same prize. Kitezh draws on a real Russian legend of a city that vanished beneath a lake to escape invaders, giving the expedition a mythic anchor.
Gameplay splits time between survival, combat and puzzle-solving. Players hunt wildlife and gather scarce materials to craft weapons and gear in hostile terrain, then put that kit to work in open-ended encounters where Lara can climb trees, slip underwater, set traps and improvise explosives. Her compound bow and climbing axe remain the core tools, and loadouts can be tuned for anything from quiet takedowns to full firefights. Optional tombs return in a bigger way, packing large chambers with lethal traps, environmental puzzles and ancient texts that point toward hidden crypts.
The Season Pass content fills out the package. “Blood Ties” opens up Croft Manor for a story-driven exploration of Lara’s family history, while “Lara’s Nightmare” turns the same estate into a zombie defense scenario. “Baba Yaga: The Temple of the Witch” sends players into a new tomb built around the Slavic folklore figure, and “Cold Darkness Awakened” throws waves of infected enemies into the mix. Rounding things out are the online Co-Op Endurance mode, the punishing “Extreme Survivor” difficulty, five classic Lara skins and an outfit and weapon inspired by 1998’s Tomb Raider III.
On the physical side, the Standard Edition keeps things simple with the Game Card, a game case and an eight-page booklet. The Collector’s Edition builds on that with a dedicated outer box, a SteelCase, a Trinity cloth patch and the standout piece: a light-up desk ornament modeled after the Divine Source.
Pre-orders for the Standard and Collector’s Editions of Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Collection on Nintendo Switch 2 open October 9.
