NOMOS Debuts Two Ice Blue Metro Watches
Bringing cool metallic dials to the Date Power Reserve and neomatik 41 Update.
Summary
NOMOS updates two Metro models with new Ice Blue metallic dials.
The 37mm Date Power Reserve debuts the hand-wound DUW 4701 calibre.
The 40.5mm neomatik 41 Update pairs automatic winding with NOMOS’ ring-date display.
NOMOS is cooling down its Metro collection with two new “Ice Blue” references, translating the line’s urban design language into a pale metallic finish inspired by contemporary glass-and-steel architecture.
Designed by Berlin-based product designer Mark Braun, Metro has balanced precision, negative space and playful color since its introduction in 2014, when the original Metro Date Power Reserve became the first NOMOS watch equipped with the manufacture’s proprietary swing system escapement. The new Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue and Metro neomatik 41 Update Ice Blue retain those familiar codes while shifting the palette toward light blue, teal and muted grey, with galvanized dials that move from cool blue to nearly white depending on the surrounding light.
The Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue, reference 1121, comes in a compact 37mm stainless-steel case measuring just 8mm thick, pairing its metallic dial with blue and white dot indexes, grey minute numerals and a tri-color power reserve indicator rendered in white, light blue and teal. More significantly, it debuts the new hand-wound DUW 4701, replacing the DUW 4401 used by the original 2014 model. The 2.8mm-thick in-house movement delivers a 52-hour power reserve and patented quick-set date, while its sapphire caseback reveals a skeletonized balance cock, NOMOS perlage, gold engravings and sunburst decoration surrounding the swing system.
The larger Metro neomatik 41 Update Ice Blue, reference 1166, measures 40.5mm across and 9.1mm thick, using the automatic DUW 6101 with a 48-hour reserve. Its signature ring-date display places the entire month around the dial perimeter, with two teal markers framing the current date, while a woven waterproof grey textile strap reinforces the cooler, more technical aesthetic.
The two Ice Blue models broaden the Metro family without departing from its minimalist character: the 37mm version emphasizes traditional hand-wound mechanics and the collection’s asymmetric power-reserve display, while the 40.5mm neomatik offers automatic winding and a more graphic approach to the date. Both are water-resistant to 5 ATM and feature sapphire display casebacks. For more information, head over to NOMOS’ official website.
