  • Kid Cudi is set to open an art exhibition at Ruttkowski;68 in Paris later this month
  • Following his recent artist documentary of the same name, Echoes of the Past gathers 10 paintings that explore Cudi’s interior landscape

Kid Cudi steps out as Scott Ramon, the painter. Hot off the heels of his artist documentary that premiered at Art Basel Miami Beach last month, the rapper is heading to Paris’ 3rd arrondissement for his next act: his first-ever art exhibition.

Running from January 31 through March 1 at Ruttkowski;68, Echoes of the Past features a 10-piece suite of paintings, introducing a vivid, geometric signature for Ramon. With playful colors coexisting with shadowy emotional undercurrents, each canvas revels in its own corner of the artist’s inner world, rich with “juxtapositions of melancholy and happiness,” Amy Verner wrote in the exhibition statement. “If not self-portraits, his paintings suggest the pursuit of an empowered self.”

Ramon picked up the paint brush around a year ago, reviving his childhood dream of becoming a cartoonist. Threading throughout the scenes we see Max, a visual alter ego that the the artist likened to a reflection of his “inner child.” Painting has become a way for him to unpack and process his “demons,” he told Dazed, building on the struggles detailed in his recent memoir – which also features an original painting as the cover art – and the road to resilience central to Free, his 2025 studio album.

The rapper-painter will also unveil an original 10-minute soundscape made for the occasion, drawing us further into his cross-disciplinary universe with an atmospheric, synth-heavy score.
