Summary

  • Miley Cyrus is the new face of Maison Margiela’s FW25 campaign, which captures her in a stripped-back and artistic light.
  • Shot by Paolo Roversi, the campaign features Cyrus in strong silhouettes and holding Maison Margiela handbags, embodying the brand’s core codes.

Miley Cyrus is an artist who was raised in the public eye and completely transformed all on her own terms. Debuting first as Disney’s Hannah Montana, the performer then went on to deconstruct her own persona over the years and establish her own artistic legacy. Her subversive slant makes her all the more fitting as the new face of Maison Margiela‘s new FW25 campaign, shot by Paolo Roversi.

Maison Margiela shared “The artist is captured in a new light, stripped-back and immersed in the core codes and archetypal expressions of the Maison,” in an Instagram post unveiling the campaign. The world has indeed seen the many shades of the singer and actress, but what is different about her latest Something Beautiful era is the sense that the artist has distilled her core identity, which shows in the album’s high fashion styling and artistic direction. The mature, yet bold expression is a far cry from maximalist eras like Bangerz (2013) and Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz (2015), making it just the right time for the artist to join forces with a house like Margiela.

The campaign feels like an extension of Something Beautiful, depicting Miley in strong silhouettes, including pieces from Maison Margiela’s Avant-Première Collection. In one look, Miley is dimly lit with smoky eyes, wearing a deconstructed pea coat, while elsewhere, the artist is completely bare — painted with white strokes of paint like the label’s Tabi boots. Across the campaign, Miley holds a range of Margiela leather handbags in black and brown, as well as the signature white paint strokes.
