Mac DeMarco Details New Album 'Guitar'

After announcing a tour and soft launching his new album back in April, Mac DeMarco has officially shared some set-in-stone details about his imminent new project, including a late-August release date. Entitled Guitar, Mac’s new studio endeavor spans 13 solo songs, including today’s lead single “Home.”

In a press statement, DeMarco described the album as a project he feels is deeply authentic to him and his artistry.

“I think Guitar is as close to a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper,” he said. “I’m happy to share this music, and look forward to playing these songs in as many places as I’m able.”

The tracklist spans 13 songs and comes fully produced and mixed by DeMarco himself, with David Ives stepping in for the mastering. DeMarco mixed the album in Canada and additionally handled all of the album’s visuals himself with a tripod.

As for “Home” in particular, which finds itself as track seven in the final lineup, the musician keeps it simple, describing it as just “a song I wrote at my home in Los Angeles about what home means to me.” Find the full finalized tracklist below.

DeMarco has also expanded his tour in support of the new album. Set to start on August 29 at The Greek in Los Angeles, the tour was initially slated to wrap on December 19 in Canada; however, he has since tacked on a hearty addition of Asia shows and more US dates.
