Update: The Air Jordan 40 is here. After leaking earlier this week, the Jumpman team has offered up its complete presentation of the sneaker, from eight official images of its lead colorway to a detailed breakdown of what to expect from the model.

Our initial thoughts below included a note on the presence of ZoomX cushioning which, for the first time in Nike history, is present in full-length form alongside a full Zoom Strobel unit. This combination maximizes responsiveness and propulsion, all the while ensuring that the Air Jordan 40 offers a state-of-the-art build. The number 40 plays a key role in its design, with not only a special silhouette logo made up of exclusively 40-degree angles, but a unique traction pattern that sticks to the same angles for stop and go movement as well. Its overall presentation draws inspiration from the line’s 40 years of creations while also accounting for style with its streamlined structure.

Nine colorways are said to be arriving over the coming year, with each featuring unique upper materials. Its debut “The Classic” look is now confirmed to be dropping on July 12, likely at a price of $200 USD. Enjoy this complete preview of the shoe and stay tuned for more updates as we continue to monitor its rollout.

Original Story: It’s been 40 years since the Air Jordan 1 ushered in a new generation of basketball sneakers, paving the way for countless models dedicated to Michael Jordan and the eventual establishment of Jordan Brand.

Rounding out four decades of Jordan footwear is the introduction of the Air Jordan 40. The new model, while not officially revealed yet, has been spotted for the first time just weeks ahead of its rumored launch date. No technical specifications have been disclosed yet, however, visible at the midsole is ZoomX branding, indicating that the cushioning system is likely present throughout the sole unit. As for the upper, it remains somewhat bare with a blank toe cap, smooth base, and eyestay piece that reaches around the collar and heel.

At the time of writing, Jordan Brand has not yet announced when the Air Jordan 40 will be making its debut on retail shelves. Stay tuned for updates, including the new model’s official unveiling, as we currently anticipate this “Vast Grey” colorway of the sneaker to drop on July 12 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $200 USD.
