Netflix has debuted the official trailer for the documentary Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy.
The upcoming docu takes a deep dive into the fatal crowd crush that occurred during Travis Scott‘s November 2021 Astroworld festival. Interviews with survivors, paramedics and security staff who were present that night are teased in the trailer. Young attendees and local Houston residents also open up about the excitement surrounding the festival, the minutes before Scott’s arrival on stage, the crowd crush that ensued and the immediate aftermath.
The 2021 Astroworld tragedy left 10 attendees dead and hundreds injured. A number of contributing factors led to the tragic accident including logistical issues, a lack of staff and the continuation of the concert despite the crowd’s warnings and visible distress. Scott and the rest of the organizers were heavily critcized for their lack of preparedness for a crowd surge and overall safety during the show.
Several victims filed lawsuits against Scott, his companies, the concert promoters and more. By May 2024, the artist and Live Nation have settled all but one of the tragedy’s wrongful death lawsuits.
