MSCHF and Mercedes-AMG Team Up for Unorthodox Furniture Collection

For NYCxDesign Week 2025, Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF has partnered with Mercedes-AMG to debut a provocative furniture collection that reimagines performance car parts as experimental design objects. The collaborative exhibition, titled MSCHF x AMG: Not for Automotive Use, will run May 14–17 inside MSCHF’s Brooklyn studio — the first time the group has opened its doors to the public.
The sculptural collection transforms AMG components into irreverent objects like ergonomic chairs, standing lights and even trash bins. Each piece is a conceptual exploration in the spirit of 1960s Italy’s Radical Design movement, referencing Achille Castiglioni’s playful repurposing of industrial materials. Constructed from genuine AMG parts and produced on a made-to-order basis, the works blend precise engineering with MSCHF’s disruptive creative ethos.
Apparel and accessories will also be on display, featuring scans of AMG engine components and a tongue-in-cheek fragrance tree shaped like an apple tree — a nod to AMG’s German hometown of Affalterbach. The studio is open to the public May 15–17 from 12–5 p.m., with an opening party on May 14 from 7–11 p.m. Limited-edition items will be available for a short time only.
