The Notorious B.I.G.'s Catalog Reportedly Close To Getting Acquired by Primary Wave
With the deal possibly priced at up to $150 million USD.

Primary Wave is reportedly close to acquiring the catalog of The Notorious B.I.G., with the deal possibly closing in the coming weeks.
Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the publishing rights of legendary rapper’s work could fetch up to $150 million USD, with his catalog priced at $100 million USD and its masters at somewhere between $30 million USD to $50 million USD. The two categories will supposedly include publicity rights (involving his name), image, voice and “other identifiable characteristics like key verses in lyrics,” while the masters cover the recorded works rather than the compositions that are part of his publishing rights.
The entire deal will reportedly be comprised of 50 percent of both the publishing rights and the masters, including the right of publicity. While an exact price for the acquisition has not been confirmed, a source hints that it’s estimated to fall in the eight-figure range.
The news arrives shortly after the death of the rapper’s mom, Voletta Wallace, on February 21. Neither Primary Wave nor the estate of Biggie have commented on the matter.
