New Balance's TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO SS25 Is Made for Movement
The latest installment of “Uni-ssentials by TDS” is genderless capsule of elevated basics.
New Balance‘s discreet Japanese label, TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO (TDS) has unveiled the latest installment of “Uni-ssentials by TDS,” a genderless line of comfort-focussed activewear. According to the studio, the ongoing collection is premised around “abandoning categories based on age and gender” and pursuing “a new level of comfort for everyone by entrusting fit and style to the wearer.”
For SS25 the collection offers a kit of essentials in two main hues of black and translucent yellow, sprinkled with neutral beige pieces. The unique yellow fabric stands out, showing the subtle silhouette of the wearer behind the synthetic textile. For tops, the collection offers crewneck sweatshirts, polo shirts, t-shirts and tank tops branded with minimalist logos and typographic artwork. Outerwear is centered on a lightweight blouson with a double zip button placket, and vented panels. Elsewhere the collection showcases athletic joggers and shorts for bottoms, and a range of accessories including socks and lightweight caps.
TDS’s strong visual perspective serves as an engine for design innovation for its Boston-based parent. The creative team’s T-HOUSE Instagram page suggests that its efforts may be behind some of New Balance’s most hyped collaborations, including recent releases with thisisneverthat and Salehe Bembury.
The TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance SS25 Uni-ssentials collection will be released in select New Balance Japan stores and the New Balance Japan website on Friday, March 14.
