Craig Green and Fred Perry's Second Collaboration Is an Ode to the Tennis Court

Red-brick clay, green grass and chalk-dusted baselines represent the raw materials of the court in three new tennis shirts.

British designer Craig Green and Fred Perry have unveiled their second collaboration, offering three new shirts dyed in hues inspired by the raw materials of the tennis court.  First designed by Wimbledon champion Fred Perry, the cult-favorite garment is imbued with Green’s subtle avant-garde sensibilities through a unique dye effect.

Starting with a foundation of a stark white shirt with neon green accents reminiscent of tennis balls, each shirt is embedded with thematic pigments. From red-brick clay to green grass and chalk-dusted baselines, each colorway draws from a different element on the court. Rather than taking a traditional garment-dyeing approach, a special method is utilized to achieve the intentional irregularity seen in each piece. Beneath the collar and the placket, the original white fabric is visible, along with the neon accents. Regardless of the unconventional color treatment, each color is relatively subdued, suggesting a mere echo of each reference.

Staying true to the original design, Green holds back on reworking the silhouette to preserve the integrity of the iconic piece. However, the small tweak made in the collaborators’ previous collection remains: Green’s circular emblem sits subtly below Fred Perry’s laurel wreath icon.

The SS25 Craig Green x Fred Perry Tennis Shirts are available now at the official Fred Perry web store and select retailers.
