Disney has officially dropped the first full-length trailer for its highly anticipated Lilo & Stitch live-action film.
The extended look gives fans a glimpse of what it is like to wish upon a star and receive an overly adorable blue extraterrestrial creature. The live-action reboot follows a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo who only wishes for a best friend. After seeing a comet blow through the night sky, she makes a wish and finds herself standing face-to-face with Stitch, a dog-like blue alien experiment. As they navigate life together, the two discover the true meaning of “ohana” meaning family — and family means noboyd gets left behind or forgotten.” Similar to the original 2002 animated film, the plot sees the young orphan raised by her teenage sister Nani. Lilo develops a close blond with Switch, aka Experiment 626 who wreaks havoc throughout the tropical paradise. Nani can be heard saying in the trailer, “He is your responsibility. Got it?” To which Lilo replies, “We promise!”
Dean Fleischer Camp is the director of the film while Chris Sanders is reprising his voice role of stitch alongside Maia Kealoho who plays Lilo. Other cast members include Zach Galifianakis, Sydney Agudong, Billy Magnussen and Courtney B. Vance. Lilo & Stitch hits theaters on May 23.
