adidas Converted the XLG Runner Into a Mule

While the Northern Hemisphere remains in the winter, warmer weather is right around the corner. adidas is gearing up to capitalize on this by expanding its range of slip-on footwear, taking its fashion-forward XLG Runner silhouette and converting it into a mule. The XLG Runner was introduced to select markets towards the end of 2024, offering a layered build that some have compared to Balenciaga’s lifestyle footwear — namely the 3XL and Track Sneakers.
This initial look at the XLG Runner Mule sees it presented in a versatile “Grey Four/Core Black.” This combination of black and various greys is present throughout the sneaker, with subtle Three Stripes branding located at the lateral midfoot, collar, toe and sockliner. Looking closer at what the new silhouette has to offer, the XLG Runner’s tongue and lacing system have been replaced by a smooth upper that has also seen the collar lowered for ease of access. As for the bulbous sole unit, its original tooling remains in tact.
At the time of writing, adidas has not yet announced when the XLG Runner Mule will be initially landing on shelves. Stay tuned for updates as we currently expect this “Grey Four/Core Black” colorway to arrive first via adidas and select retailers at some point in the months to come.
