Chevrolet has introduced the Silverado EV ZR2 off-road race truck concept at the Mint 400. The all-electric race truck will compete in the Open Production EV class, driven by Chad Hall as part of the Hall Racing team. The Silverado EV ZR2 joins the team’s existing lineup of race-proven Chevrolet trucks, including the Silverado ZR2 and Colorado ZR2.

Designed to push the limits of electric off-road performance, the Silverado EV ZR2 race truck concept follows the same winning ZR2 formula seen in Chevrolet’s production trucks. It features a lifted suspension with off-road-specific tuning, Multimatic damper technology, locking differentials and underbody skid protection for added durability. While still a concept, the truck was developed in just five months using 98 percent GM production parts.

At the heart of the race truck is a tri-motor electric propulsion system delivering 1,100 hp and 11,500 lb-ft of torque. The truck rides on 37-inch BF Goodrich KM3 Mud-Terrain tires and debuts prototype Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve dampers, which provide superior off-road performance and allow for more than 13 inches of front and rear wheel travel.

Chevrolet engineers will be embedded with the Hall Racing team during the Mint 400, gathering real-world data to refine future production vehicles, performance parts and accessories. According to Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet, competitive racing provides the ultimate test for Chevrolet’s engineering. Chad Hall echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that insights gained from racing directly influence the development of vehicles available to consumers.
