A$AP Rocky Confirms 'DON'T BE DUMB' Is Currently Being Mixed and Mastered
“The album’s done. I just want to drop it,” he says.
A$AP Rocky highly-anticipated album DON’T BE DUMB is officially in its final stages.
The rapper confirmed the news in a new conversation with GQ, revealing that his fourth studio album is currently being mixed and mastered. Rocky adds, however, that he thinks “people are tired of hearing about updates about the album,” continuing, “They’re just ready to get this shit, you know what I’m saying? I don’t think anybody wants to hear where I’m at with it, how far is it along and all that. They just want to hear some shit just to see where I’m at, and I promise I got some new shit in store. I’m challenging myself. It’s like anything, I approach it with a different tactic, degree, or finesse.”
He added, “The album’s done. I just want to drop it. I don’t want to keep saying what I’m going to do and I want to give people what I’ve been promising them for a long-ass f*cking time.”
DON’T BE DUMB will mark Rocky’s first album since 2018’s TESTING, and was initially set for an August 30 release. However, he announced a week prior that “leaks and sample clearances are disrupting the album” and essentially delayed it to Fall 2024. He wrote on X, “ITS BEEN 6 YEARS & I WANNA MAKE THE BEST ALBUM EVER. IM SORRY FOR THE WAIT.”
A snippet of an unreleased track recently made waves on the internet, and heard Rocky briefly rap about the brands he sported while on trial over a Metro Boomin-produced beat — suggesting that there could be a song on the project that was recorded during his acquittal.
