New Balance & Dover Street Market Unveil Special Edition 991v2 MADE in UK
Tweaks including full-length FuelCell cushioning, DSM co-branding and premium Nubuck leather overlays streamline the classic model.
New Balance and luxury concept retailer Dover Street Market (DSM) have linked up for a special edition of the Boston sneaker brand’s 991v2 MADE in UK model.
The all-black variant maintains the familiar profile of the retro runner while elevating it with premium Nubuck leather overlays on the mesh uppers. For a technical touch, reflective accents appear on the sway bar on the toe box and the tongue’s logo badge. Both the tongue and the lateral side tab and the tongue emblem showcase “DSM” branding to represent the special partnership. In addition to full-length FuelCell cushioning, classic ABZORB and ENCAP features add extra support and comfort.
Some may spot similarities to the “Triple Black” 991v2 unveiled in January this year, which was largely identical minus the reflective details and the DSM workmarks. As of recently, New Balance has been pushing more monochromatic models both in line and with special collaborators. The hybrid loafer 1906L, the 1906A, and the 2002R are among the models recently unveiled in all-black colorways.
In March 2024, New Balance and DSM released another black variant of the 991v2 for the TCS London Marathon, which featured small pops of orange and green in the midsoles. The regular collaborators began releasing joint 991 models in 2022 with a gray and khaki colorway, similar to New Balance’s signature palette.
The New Balance x DSM 991v2 is set for release on February 21, exclusively at global Dover Street Market stores and the retailer’s web store.
