Daniel Arsham’s distinctive vision meets the world of automotive artistry in Arsham Motorsport, a luxury art book published by ERG Media. This first-ever printed collection of Arsham’s automotive works serves as an informal catalog of his creations up to 2024, providing an in-depth exploration of the artist’s deep-rooted connection to the car world.

With Arsham having published books of his own, we were curious why he chose to go with ERG this time around, to which he shared: “I’ve seen the books that Ted and Matilde have been doing at ERG the past couple of years and as I was developing the concept for this book, I thought that they were perfectly aligned to be able to do it. We did everything possible with this book, including a significant amount of new photography, really heavy design, and truly spent over a year putting everything together with all the research and the background — that’s one of the things that I love about ERG — all of the history and details that go into their publications nuance.”

When asked what he’s most looking forward to as the book goes out into the world and lands in the hands of collectors, Arsham told Hypebeast: “I think seeing people for the first time, you know enjoying this book, it’s like me looking at one of the books that ERG has already done. There’s a breath of knowledge in them that is new to me and just really beautiful, elegant photography very considered design, language, and all-around just an incredible publication.”

The publication is presented as a two-volume collection, each focusing on different aspects of Arsham’s automotive portfolio. The first volume highlights the bespoke vehicles crafted by Arsham in collaboration with his extensive network, including his reimagined Porsche builds. The second volume delves into his iconic “Eroded” sculptures, which have become a hallmark of his artistic language, seamlessly blending past, present, and future aesthetics.

Each book’s cover reflects its content, with Volume 1 featuring a dynamic image of the Stone Island Porsche 911 Safari, while Volume 2 showcases a close-up of the Eroded 992-generation Porsche 911. Encased in a sophisticated concrete grey linen slipcase, the set is further embellished with foil-embossed graphics in Arsham’s signature green, echoing the meticulous craftsmanship present in his work.

The book is further elevated by the high-caliber photography of Thomas Walk, ERG Media’s art director, offering a visually compelling documentation of Arsham’s automotive pieces. Through never-before-seen insights, readers gain an exclusive look into the rigorous research, experimentation and engineering that bring his vision to life.

To learn more about the book, we also caught up with Gushue, who shared insights on how the book came to be, what separates it from other ERG titles and what he’s most looking forward to as the book makes its debut.

What excites you most about the release of Arsham Motorsports?

This book is the result of over two years of deep collaboration between Arsham Studio and the ERG team. We’ve meticulously documented every detail of Daniel Arsham’s automotive projects from the past decade, offering an unprecedented look into his automotive world. What excites me most is that, for the first time, readers will gain exclusive insights into his creative process, the philosophy behind his work, and the evolution of his cars—perspectives that have never been shared publicly by the artist or his studio.

How does it differ from books you’ve released in the past?

Arsham Motorsports is unlike anything we’ve done before. This is our first-ever double-volume release, which reflects the depth and scale of Daniel’s automotive work. The two volumes are distinctly structured: one focuses on his eroded sculptures, showcasing how he reinterprets automotive forms through his signature aesthetic, while the other explores his dynamic car projects, celebrating the vehicles he has built, modified, and raced. The format itself is a testament to how immersive and multifaceted this project is.

How did the book come to be and what sparked the idea for it?

Daniel and I have been in close contact since he first ventured into the car world. Our collaboration started when I introduced him to Porsche, which led to his Eroded 992 project. From that moment, I watched his passion for automotive design grow into something truly obsessive and methodical. Over time, we had natural conversations about how to document this journey—not just as a retrospective, but as a comprehensive exploration of how his artistic vision intersects with the automotive world. This book became the perfect way to capture that evolution.

What was the most challenging and rewarding aspect of creating the book?

One of the most fascinating aspects of Daniel’s work is that when he embarks on a new project, the final car is just one part of a much larger creative universe. Take the Bonsai 356—while there is one finished car, the project also includes thousands of research materials, material studies, clothing designs, and experimental concepts that contribute to its world. The biggest challenge—and ultimately, the most rewarding part—was capturing this entire ecosystem of creativity. We didn’t just want to show the finished works; we wanted to give readers a window into the intricate process that makes these projects so uniquely Arsham.

Arsham Motorsport is a testament to the seamless intersection of art and automotive culture, reinforcing Arsham’s influence in both worlds. With its unparalleled level of detail and craftsmanship, the book cements itself as a must-have item for automotive enthusiasts and art collectors alike.

Those looking to get their hands on the book as soon as possible can head over to ERG’s official site, where the book is available for preorder at $320 USD and is expected to ship on or before February 26.
