Memphis Depay and MC Hariel Release a Funk Collaboration Bridging Football and Favelas

In an unexpected yet exciting collaboration, Brazilian funk star MC Hariel and Dutch football player Memphis Depay have joined forces to release a four-track EP titled FALANDO COM AS FAVELAS (Talking to the Favelas). This unique project marks Depay’s debut in the Brazilian music scene and highlights the growing intersection between sports, music, and social consciousness.

Depay, who currently plays for Corinthians and has a history with renowned clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona, and Atlético de Madrid, has long held a passion for music. His interest in Brazilian funk led him to connect with Hariel, a veteran of the genre known for his socially conscious lyrics and massive hits.

The collaboration, facilitated by their mutual friend DJ Nine, resulted in a whirlwind of creativity. The duo crafted three songs in their first meeting and embarked on a journey that took them from the favelas of São Paulo to the streets of Ghana, where they filmed a music video for the EP’s title track. This cross-cultural exchange enriched their artistic vision and infused the EP with a powerful message of resilience and achievement.
